not to put the monarch down, but it was too narrow in the shoulder/torso area and the arm rests were so close to the seat that i had as hard a time threading the seat belt through them as my son.

the shoulder belt sits perfectly across the shoulder.

from what i've read, the lap belt should stretch across the upper thigh area of the child, and the shoulder belt should be positioned across the shoulder, not touching the neck.

i have to say the monterey is a better fit for my 6 year old daughter her shoulders fit inside the shoulder wings as opposed to on the wings in the britax.

the seat belt because she can not reach, but it lets me do one thing in the days of "i will do it myself." the seat belt guide works beautifully and keeps it centered across her shoulder and chest.
