You might want a larger, more powerful boombox for large gatherings and better sound, or a smaller, more portable model might be sufficient for your needs. Check out these guidelines to help you make a choice.
Batteries
If you want to be completely mobile, make sure the boombox can operate on battery power alone. Be aware that this will add significant weight to the unit, so make sure that it isn't too heavy for your needs.
Output Power
If you want to crank up the music during loud parties or outdoors you'll want a unit with at least 12-20 watts, which should be enough for most circumstances. If you like your music really loud, look for something more powerful.
Amp & Speaker Features
Boomboxes with bass boost and other sound enhancing features can make the most of the music on your iPod. If you listen to a lot of bass heavy music these sort of features are a must have.
