I wish they made this model with a built in ipod dock.
I just spent a few hours at J&R Music World here in downtown NYC today comparing the Tivoli Model One with a few other radios.
I won't rehash everything that's already been said about this radio.
To be sure, this little radio has great sound.
We enjoyed our Model One for nearly two years, and then it died.
it is easy to use, the sound is fine, the remote is handy, and it is very portable.
i purchased this unit not for the ipod docking, but because it was the only reasonably priced boom box that accepted external audio input.
also has an audio input so that she can play her mp3 as well using it with one of those cords that have an earphone jack on both sides.
the sound quality is not the greatest but is somewhat loud.
what's great about it:?sounds great what's not so great:?poor craftsmanship "we bought the same model, but without ipod dock, and it quickly became more and more difficult to get it to play a cd.
it gets good and loud and the sound quality is decent enough.
it is plenty loud.
what's great about it:?ease of use, remote, sound quality, portability what's not so great:?docking socket could be more durable.
also it needs to have treble and bass controls!
the cd player sounds great and makes this player shine!!
the volume customization also means you can lull yourself gently to sleep (the "sleep" function can be set in 30-minute increments) at a low volume level but still be awakened with a loud enough
the minus marks come because the i199 just doesn't have the chops and falls short on volume.
in the past, we've looked at countless ipod audio systems that provide adequate to excellent ipod playback but lack other desirable features such as a cd player and am/fm radio.
