I purchased this unit not for the iPod docking, but because it was the only reasonably priced boom box that accepted external audio input. I use it to stream music from Pandora on my Blackberry.
I wanted a compact boombox for CD playing and radio listening. (I don't need to attach an IPod.) The sound is clear and crisp, with tweaking of the telescoping antenna. Also wanted a white box, for decorative reasons.
This has been great so far. I am a teacher and love that it has both the CD player and ipod dock. The sound is good and everything works fine.
The Boombox is being returned as I write this. The Ipod docking device malfunctioned after 2 hours of play. The good thing is that Sony is replacing it.
The Sony is a well designed iPod dock and boombox with an emphasis on portability. The docking mechanism is very clever and hold the iPod securely against the face of the unit.
I had a I-Home- first the part that plays I=Pods quit === then I kept it for the radio but eventually the radio tuner went out. I like this much better- better speakers, you can preset radio channels (making turning a snap) and it plays the I Pod great--- it has a remote control.
Received the black one as a gift, but wanted white to match my bathroom! I love this ipod,cd,radio player!
My wife and I made the mistake of ordering this player based on the Sony name without reading the reviews. Big mistake.
Pros: The box looks nice, plays and charges my iPod (8g nano), plays CDs, and has a radio. The cons are: the sound is not great, and there's no shuffle feature on the remote.
The sound from this Sony boombox is as good as you're going to get for the price. It's a good way to keep your iPod charged.
