I purchased this unit not for the iPod docking, but because it was the only reasonably priced boom box that accepted external audio input. I use it to stream music from Pandora on my Blackberry.
Sleek design - couldn't find the handle for the longest time ;). Sound is good. Radio tunes nicely and even my antiquated ipod mini fits and plays just fine once I adjusted the ipod tray. Note to reviewers who say the remote doesn't have full control of the ipod: I found that using the menu and 'forward' and 'reverse' buttons allowed me to toggle between menu selections/playlists albums/artists.
This boombox has some great features... the CD player, the radio, the auxilliary option (which we use to play our Ipod shuffle) and the Ipod dock that also charges Ipods. While I didn't expect it to sound like my home stereo system, I did expect the sound to be a bit better.
This boombox is perfect in meeting its purpose If you want a ok sounding machine that can play CD/mp3/radio and Ipod. Thats what I was in the market for and it works well on all counts.
I purchased a sony cd boombox with an iPod dock. I really like it.
If you are looking for a great dock to charge up your I-Pod I recommend this product. For serious listening pleasure, this is not the box you want to feed your ears with sound, but you can plug it into your sound system and operate it remotely.
I just bought this and the sound is not even close to the old Sony boombox that just died. It even has trouble getting the FM stations that the old one picked up just fine.
I've bought the Ipod 32 GB 2nd Generation, and I was looking for speakers to hear my music, but also for an equipment where I can play the tons of CS's I still own. Well, I've found it with the SONY CD Boombox.
It's OK, but the tuner is so-so and nothing like the sound or tuner in my Teac HD-1 HD Clock Radio boombox with iPod/iPhone Docking & iTunes Tagging. If you can afford the latter it much more up to date, although not portable.
I bought this Boombox as Like New off of Amazon and have not been disappointed. It works great and is definitely loud enough for my classroom where I use it. I love finally having speakers for my iPod and also having the CD player and radio is really handy as well. Other people have complained about the speakers and sound but I have no problems with it...
