however, the glass jar got a large chip in the base, and leaked.
the blade is removable and the jar is dishwasher safe.
clean-up on this blender is easy since the entire jar can be taken apart from the top to the bottom, including the portion that holds the blades.
the jar is plastic and easy to handle and clean.
just a note - i was expecting the "thermal jar" to be glass & it is actually plastic.
i absolutely love this blender, but i don't care for the plastic blending jar.
there are "waves" in the plastic jar which filters the beverage & ice down towards the blades.
the insulating sleeve on the jar is great for keeping the drinks cold and dispensing over a period of time without smoothies becoming runnies.
there is no indication that any of the components can go into the dishwasher and the double hull jar traps water.
i was disappointed when i first received the "wave station" because for some reason i was expecting the blending jar to be glass.
the jar fell down from the kitchen cabinet and it broke.
an extra blender jar will probably be on most peoples wanted list.

i would rather have extra blending jars as they are small and what i go through the most.

we found that we ignored a few tips to actually freeze the blender jar (or at least refrigerate it for a while) before making drinks.
ok, one suggestion would be to be able to buy extra jars so that you can be pouring one while the next is in the machine.

i do wish that they offered extra jars though,so i could be making more while i'm pouring!
the jar is especially large and it works perfectly.
you have to push it down & twist it & you will hear it click & lock onto the jar.
i am changing my review - i wish i could change the rating to one star: the locking mechanism that attaches the blade to the jar can accidentally and easily unlock.
i can see why some have had problems with spills...you must carefully screw the base onto the glass jar.
i can understand why those who had trouble assembling the base/blade assembly to the jar, could not do so regardless of effort.
i think its a super smart idea, and it makes the baby's food just as if you bought it in a jar, except without the artificial stuff....
what the one guy described as having to hit the jar and it overheating.
besides when you have all the extras there's no need to get the various blender jars again.
i throw the blade unit and the plastic jars into my dishwasher and they come out clean.
