however i was dismayed when my sister informed me hers did not work beyond low speed (which, by the way, still made a perfect slushy) when items were in the blender jar .
had a blender that always leaked and this one is a one piece jar....just what i was looking for!
i love the extra large jar (48 oz) and how easy it is to clean.
with the oster i would always have to start it, take the jar off and shake midway, then put it back on again.
to clean up, a quick rinse of the one piece jar, then fill it half way with warm water and blend on high for a few seconds.
went to walmart saw the hamilton single serve blender and said hey great invention, small, compact, convenient and portable, unlike the large bulky blender/jar.
now, with this little blender, the little jar is always filled with something or in the dish drainer.
at home i use a blender, but at work i have been using a shaker jar.
*jar small enough to drink from
this blender is very powerful and i love the size of the jar.
i also like the glass jar (as my oster had) for being able to blend hot soups.
the glass jar is large enough.
glass jar, powerful motor.
maybe this blender works well with a full blender jar, but i bought it for my morning smoothies-- a cup or so of yogurt, a handful of fruit and 2-3 ice cubes.
i have now had this blender for a few years and love the simple design...i don't like the newer style of blender that has the big bottom jar going over the base instead of into it, even though that
in my search, i tried a professional bar blender by hamilton beach and the newer styles with the larger, wider bottom mixing jars like the one from kitchenaide.
we have only had to replace the glass jar for a plastic one as it broke.
lid was smashed between jar and motor.
pros: strong motor, glass jar
but i had just shattered the glass jar of my old blender and i wanted something lighter and, ideally, plastic.
i wanted to make a small milk shake without the hassle of pulling out and cleaning the large glass jar of my blender.
also - the containers are also great for storage - we leave the dressings in them in the fridge (rather than dirtying another jar).
be sure to get the mason jar attachment so you
best of all buy the adapter so you can use canning jars to grind into, and if you have a vacuum packer, you can then vacuum pack what you've ground.
i owned another kitchenaid blender and it was powerful, but still left chunks because the jar was too wide at the bottom.
of course, i guess to replace the blade, you have to replace the entire jar and i think that it runs around $50.00 but i still would recommend this blender to everyone.
so, we upgraded to the back to basics smoothie professional, which was great until i dropped the glass jar into the sink and broke it, only to find that you couldn't buy a new one anywhere so my $120
this kitchenaid is the best blender i have ever owned, and i absolutely love the polycarbonate jar instead of glass (someone in my family always manages to break it) which is why this is about my
i recently purchased a kitchenaid ksb560ob 5-speed blender with polycarbonate jar.
if you don't liquefy the spinach first, it's volume-eating leafy form will take up too much space in the jar and you won't be able to add as much fruit.
the description of the item says that it has a 32 ounce jar and in other places it says it has a 64 ounce jar.
when that happens, i take the jar out and shakes it a couple times and blend again.
the biggest perk is the quality of drinks since the ice is shaved seperately before being added to the blender jar.
we found that we ignored a few tips to actually freeze the blender jar (or at least refrigerate it for a while) before making drinks.
ok, one suggestion would be to be able to buy extra jars so that you can be pouring one while the next is in the machine.
i do wish that they offered extra jars though,so i could be making more while i'm pouring!
btw, if you want the 64-oz jar later on, you can order it as an accessory.
the plastic jar is also easier to clean than our old one, which had removable blades.
bonuses: affordable price, large capacity, glass jar, a million speeds, and easy to clean.
after placing all the ingredients into the jar and varying between pressing the ice breaker, smoothie and icy drink buttons a few times, the wave action kicks in and boom!
i've even stuck the jar in the freezer for a couple hours while i sipped my cocktail slowly, not wanting the rest to melt and re-blended it up in a jiffy.
this blender is substantial, with a nice, heavy jar, a rubbery lid that seals well and easy to use controls.
we used this to make our morning frozen fruit smoothies and the blender worked fine as long as we had enough liquid in the jar, otherwise the fruit would not blend properly.
i ordered a waring blender last week, when i washed it the seal on the glass jar leaked.
with the jar off, the motor does not make that much noise, but the with the jar on, it is almost deafening -- and high-pitched.
one problem that i have encountered was that i unscrewed the blades from the glass to clean and it now leaks when i make smoothies (leaks from the bottom of the jar).
plus, no more scrapping off dried smoothie (yeah!) i can stick the jar right in the dishwasher (the last blender jar i used melted when i did that!) as a family we are heavy into protein smoothies
one thing to note is the blender is very heavy, and so is the jar.
however, the glass jar got a large chip in the base, and leaked.
the blade is removable and the jar is dishwasher safe.
the oster did seem loud when i initially filled it with water to wash the jar.
clean-up on this blender is easy since the entire jar can be taken apart from the top to the bottom, including the portion that holds the blades.
the jar is plastic and easy to handle and clean.
just a note - i was expecting the "thermal jar" to be glass & it is actually plastic.
i absolutely love this blender, but i don't care for the plastic blending jar.
the best part is that the only thing that gets dirty and sticky is the blender jar.
you simply fill the ice bin, add the ingredients to the blender jar and punch the button.
an extra blender jar will probably be on most peoples wanted list.
the glass-blending jar has a unique retro look that lends itself to easy stability when in use with a large glass handle and drip free spout.
i would rather have extra blending jars as they are small and what i go through the most.
it has a great modern look with the stainless-steel jar and after use just throw it in the dishwasher.
my wife at first was concerned about the jar not being clear because she would not know when things were blended but after trying it a few times she doesn't care as things are always blended by the
the jar is especially large and it works perfectly.
you have to push it down & twist it & you will hear it click & lock onto the jar.
i am changing my review - i wish i could change the rating to one star: the locking mechanism that attaches the blade to the jar can accidentally and easily unlock.
i can see why some have had problems with spills...you must carefully screw the base onto the glass jar.
that black band between the silver and glass is part of the jar/blade assembly, it envelops the base and sits solidly on it, and this probably enhances stability.
the jar is a sturdy glass, and buttons are soft and recessed, making it easy to clean the front of the blender with a sponge or towel.
it has a glass jar, the top fits perfectly and has a removeable insert for adding ingredients.
i also love that, if you thoroughly rinse the jar and blade assembly right away after using it, you don't need to wash it (this assumes you're not blending something that's oily).
i do like the glass jar and the lid is nice and air tight.
there is nothing to hold the jar in place in the base so it wobbles & leaks-and i dont mean a small leak, we had a fairly large leak.
the insulating sleeve on the jar is great for keeping the drinks cold and dispensing over a period of time without smoothies becoming runnies.
there are "waves" in the plastic jar which filters the beverage & ice down towards the blades.
i was disappointed when i first received the "wave station" because for some reason i was expecting the blending jar to be glass.
the jar fell down from the kitchen cabinet and it broke.
the down side of this blender is that the jar is plastic.
