yes, it is loud but this blender makes great smoothies.
it's loud, but because it's so effective, you will probably have it turned on for less than half the time of another blender - i make my standard smoothie in 6 (!) seconds.
i liked this blender because it pulverized veggies for a soup, and fruits for a smoothie to a nice, smooth consistency.
