i use it almost solely for smoothies and it is every bit as good as the vitamix that i borrowed from a friend for several weeks when i was test-driving these (expensive) machines.
well worth the price if you make smoothies, soups or nut pate's a lot.
i did a ton of research and in the end i went by the recommendation from the green smoothie girl [[...]].
using the pulse and a touch of ro filtered water i made the best cucumber and carrot smoothie on the planet...

it is the same blender you will find it many coffee shops and smoothie places.
it has amazing power and we use it daily for "green smoothies." our normal blender couldn't chop up the greens effectively.
it does make fabulous smoothies, crushes ice with no complaint, and does all that you expect a blender to do and does it very well.
