This blender is extremely noisy. We tried to make smoothies, adding frozen blueberries in place of ice cubes. from Target.com I got this blender about 1 year ago,not really powerful. I used this only about 10 times and the plastic blade broke off of it. from Target.com I purchased this blender six weeks ago, and have used it about 5-6 times. This morning, it started smoking and melted the plastic piece that turns the blade. from Target.com I haven't found a blender on the college student budget that can crush ice from ice cubes. I thought this might do it because of the motor speed, but it doesn't do ice cubes or frozen strawberries (you'll have to let them thaw, which led me to notice that ingredients did not circulate in the blender. from Target.com I don't know what all the fuss is all about I love mine. Much better than my old kitchenaid 5 speed crappy blender. Purees all the way. from Amazon.com I purchased this on sale and kept it as a backup for my old Oster which refused to die after 12 years, which eventually it did few months ago. Out came this one and while we could barely use it 8-10 times, it overheated. At first I liked it because it seemed very powerful and there were no problems. from Amazon.com Granted, mine lasted longer than some of the others (almost 18 months), but the end result is the same... a funny smell and then it just stops working. I called Black & Decker and all they would tell me was that it had been longer than the 12-month warranty period, and there was nothing they could do about it. I told them that it just didn't seem right, being that it had only been used a maximum of 40 times and that there must be some design flaw or something, but they didn't care. from Amazon.com I have one comment for Applica, they should fire the engineers and product managers for this product. The Black & Decker line of blenders are riddled with design flaws and manufacturing flaws, it's a complete failure. You can't pay me enough to take one home again. from Amazon.com
