i have tried them for some backyard astronomy and they do well in getting clear and crisp color from stars ( a good test of binocular acuity.) the green rubberized housing is attractive and beats
these binoculars are very clear and "bright." it is amzing how well they work in low light.
lightweight, rugged, fast focus, and a pleasure to use.
focus is smooth and by internal lens movement.
my husband has bad eyes, he can adjust them to see perfectly clearly, they bring the vision up so close it feels like you could touch the birds!!!

i have several binoculars and used to consider 6 feet close focusing.
as a new butterfly enthusiast i needed a pair of close focusing binocular.
add to that their remarkable ability to focus down to 1/2 meter (watch a mosquito feeding on your knee like its on large screen tv!) and they are unbeatable value as an everyday binocular.
although i haven't used the binoculars for it's intended purpose, hunting, mostly in foul weather and in low light situations i am very pleased with the feel and optical clarity of these binoculars!

weaknesses: close focus not as close as some.
the pentax dcf hr ii binoculars are a nice bright, very accurate color and very sharp on center axis.

pros: youre eyes will experience x-treme brightness, resolution and sharpness.
you can see the moon with all its great detail in perfect clarity, along with star constilation ect...if you want to go to a ball game it works great aswell.
the focus wheel is somewhat hard to turn and sometimes locks when i put them back in the case.
this model has superior sharpness and provides a bright field of view.
pros: great night optics 12x50, focus lock, eye rest adjust, mount, water-resistant, & value!
The focus wheel is very cumbersome and difficult to operate though the locking mechanism is adequate.
There are three things that are a problem for me: Too much eye relief which causes black out; I sent mine in to Pentax to check the collimation because I couldn't get 100% sharp focusing; a Pentax

The focus knob, exit pupil adjustment, and tripod mount cover all turn smoothly.
the main finger focus in the center of the glasses is knobbed to give you easy control while focusing on objects and you can lock it to your set focus.
