the nikon has a better "feel," is easier for me to focus and hold steady, and it is waterproof.
it's durability?
he primarily uses it at basketball games so he can see the players better, so i wanted it to be compact, yet powerful.
however, the nikon cost $25 more, so the olympus is still a good compact binocular for the money.
for the theater pros: compact, quality lenses, strong construction best uses: opera sporting events describe yourself: casual/recreational
when i looked thru them i was really impressed with the clarity and power.
when i recieved them i was surprised on how small they actually were but yet felt solid and well built.
very sturdy compact binoculars.
i knew i didnt want the huge or midsize ones because i needed something small to take with me on my trips to the philippine islands.
then i got a copy of consumer reports and unbelievably they reviewd many different brands ranging in all sizes and costs, and they rated these binoculars higher than the $800 pairs.
a little on the heavy side but the clarity makes up for it.
excellent optics and compact size make these a great item to throw into your bag when traveling.
great product for its size & weight.
very sharp and crystal clear definition making it comparable to the best any where in the world.
focuses smoothly and without distortion.
initially i thought this binocular was very bulky but i was quickly won over on how comfortable it was holding it.
it's great that these are focus-free, so i am able to share it with someone without having to adjust the focus.
you get to see more in a given area than standard 8x20 binocular and you don't have to worry about focusing.
and they focus automatically.
these compact, inobtrusive, bargain-priced binoculars served me well on that occassion, and i'm sure will continue to do so, whether at the races or all manner of other sporting events.
it was small, so you could stuff in your coat when not needed, yet was powerful enough to check out most things when needed.
also is well suited for casual bird watching or even hunting to determine your prey and scope out distance.
they are tiny when folded up, and even come with a carrying case.
pros: compact, quality lenses, strong construction best uses: bird watching, security, yachting describe yourself: casual/recreational
what i like best about this product is that it is compact and it doesn't fog up.
an exellent choice for birders.
i bit bulky but still fits in normal pocket.
good light gathering ability in a moderate size package.
the smaller magnification means the image is less bouncy as well.
the bottom line: excellent binoculars, clear crisp focus, light-weight, sure grip and comfortable.
keeping in mind they are an inexpensive compact, these are an overall excellent binocular and a super value imo.
perfect for me -- i take them onboard my kayak for birdwatching.
easy to adjust and focus except that diopter is a little difficult to adjust.
the focus control is easy to operate even for small hands.
it's very clear and focuses pretty close too.
it is a tad too heavy for the average pocket but it might fit in those wretched cargo pants.
it is by far the best for the money that i have found.
it is bright clear and powerful.
it's a little larger than i would like, but the images are clear, and the viewing field is large enough to easily find my golf ball.
wonderful construct and bright, clear views.
really good quality binocular with features found in very expensive models.
- impressive optics with great clarity
i am very impressed with the clarity of the optics.
- compact size for its 10x42 magnification and field of view
Optics also seem to be what I would expect from Nikon.
I am a bird watcher and these glasses really give you a good view of the birds clear, bright, and nice magnification..
I bought these to replace a cheap $20 pair of binoculars that were stolen out of my car.
I also own a pair of Zeiss 10X50,they are nice but very heavy and I would rather have my Nikon binocs any day.
I purchased these binoculars because they were rated a best buy by consumer reports.
easy to use, quality lenses, strong construction best uses:
but after i received it i'd say that it was worth the price.
image very sharp when in focus.
(because i am quite nearsighted, i can use without glasses up to about 7 feet.) lightest and most compact device available for these limited purposes, but a lanyard ring would be more useful to me
my small binoculars were just a bit too large to casually take along with keys and wallet when i'm popping out the door for a walk.
Great binoculars for concerts, sports and even wild life sightseeing.
Great glasses!
I replaced my 30 yr old Bushnell binoculars with this new item..since i have eyeglasses i saw double images with the old binoculars..but the new ones are designed to eliminate that problem..and they work perfectly!!
Will recommend to anyone who is looking for an economically priced good and reliable binoculars.
These binoculars are outstanding for big game hunting and scouting.
If you have a beer budget but champagne taste, then buy the over thousand dollar Zeiss, Leica, or Swarovski binoculars!
Pentax DCF WP binoculars are great.
The clarity and optics of the binoculars is exceptional.
These are the nicest binoculars we've ever had as far as a nice sharp field of view and image.
These binoculars so far have performed great.
For the price I decided why not try them.
For the price I paid (Under $100) I rate these 5 stars.
For use between 20-70x are very good, the pictures are very clear and striking, these binoculars are made with quality materials, are very nice and is sturdy appearance.
My purchase of the Celestron Binoculars is for my celestial observation in my retirement.
The Celestron 71012 SkyMaster 20-100x70 Zoom are OK.
[...]the binocular itself is compact, yet feels rugged.
they are light, compact & water resistant.
i think for ther size, the waterproof and adjustable eye cups they are great.
these are really compact, smaller than the 8 x25 sportstars and feel great in the hands.
i didn't want a particularly full-size one due to their heaviness, or so i thought.
One drawback - the binocular is listed on the Pentax website as having click-stop dioptor detents to keep the adjustment "locked" once set for your eyes.
There was a vendor selling many brands of binoculars, including Zeiss, Leica, Leupold, Pentax and Swarovski.
Ok, my first review on Amazon, so let me tell you about the Pentax DCF WP II 8x42 binoculars...
I own 2 pair of Pentax DCF/WP Binoculars and consider them to be the best value on the market, comparable to the finest German binoculars at half the price.
The close focus is very useful.
Bought for astronomy (with a tripod)...
For the price the optics are clear/colored well.
Great product for the price.
I got this for bird watching, but when I receive the first one, it won't focus, and getting double image.
I'm fond of wild life and photography so I wanted a Binoc.
At high power zoom, the view become very dim and the field of view become very small.
There are two dials to adjust--one is the focus and the other is the zoom mechanism.
I bought this monocular so I could have a lightweight scope to keep handy and not have to wear my binoculars all the time.
Seems good if not using any of the zoom magnification, becomes blurry if zoomed over 10x.
I have happily owned the smaller Brunton Echo 7x18 for a few years, so when this one came out, I was ready to step up to a more powerful version of the Echo.
The Celestrons at 25 power are kind of OK in terms of clarity and magnification.
I bought these binoculars to use on a tripod and view wildlife.
The optics and construction are top notch, what I would expect from Celestron.
I'm happy with my purchase of these binoculars.
Looking at the moon has never been more exciting.
I agree with Rusty Duck: The Lowepro "nonslip" straps are outclassed by the UpStrap strap.
I like Lowepro equipment and have quite a few of their items.
I rarely put a camera around my neck.
The Lowepro Voyager C Camera Strap is comfortable around your neck.
This is my third such camera strap from various manufacturers.
