We did a lot of research into various small telescopes and binoculars before deciding to buy the "Galileo 20x60 Binoculars". We already own Celestron SkyMaster Giant 15x70 Binoculars w/Tripod Adapter and the Galileo 20x60 is very close in optic quality. from Amazon.com It is compact. Maybe 15x70 is a better buy for more wide field viewing of night sky. You really don't need 20x to view deep sky objects. Rather you need low magnification (wide view) and bigger aperture. from Amazon.com These are very powerful binoculars and therefore not suited to short range usage (probably less than one hundred yards) They are very lightweight for their power. If I do have any dissapointment in these binoculars it is that they do not have provision to mount them to a tripod. With the 20x power of the glasses, holding them steady on small or very distant objects is sometime difficult.
