The coatings are significant in the fact that there is almost zero coloration in what your looking at. Light transmission is great too. With 8.5 magnificaiton on a 44 mm objective platform, the 5.17mm exit pupil is good enough for very low light viewing. In some cases if you use these for astronomy, backup or accompanyment of telescopes, your viewing of fine point detail and gradations is better than a 7x50 because of less image bloom or glare. from Bhphotovideo.com I'm doing local birding and deer hunting within 300 yards.
