I fully agree with the other 1 star review. I immediately tried focusing these on a nearby mountain by my house. I can get the left eyepiece close to focused at 20x but the right eyepiece has a double image no matter where I turn the focus or diopter. If you zoom in at all, the field of view is way too small and barely any light is let through during the day! from Amazon.com The images are just completely and unacceptably hazy. I spent 2 hours with a tripod in my living room looking out across a field, and eventually determined that I could see no more detail at any magnification than my pair of 10x30 binoculars. And by the way, the magnification at anywhere near the 20x and 140x extremes was a farce. I'm guessing that the usable zoom range is maybe something like 30x to 60x, although there are no numbers on it to tell me what the zoom level actually is. from Amazon.com For astronomy, forget it - full moon viewing only. Since ordering I found some great articles at www.astronomybinoculars.com and bigbinoculars.com. One article was called "Friends Don't Let Friends Buy Zoom Binoculars." Read about these things and you'll understand why it would be way better to spend your $200 on a good pair of fixed 10x50's. from Amazon.com Stay away from these.
