Very light; I suspect there are some plastic lenses in there somewhere. Sharp (even for astronomical use which is demanding), relatively bright, very well collimated. from Amazon.com These are very good quality binoculars. For this price they would be hard to beat. I now have these in 8x40 and a pair in 10x50 of this same type & use them for birding in my back yard & along the coast.
