Wize Buying Guide for Hiking
If you're a lover of the outdoors and want your child to share your passion from the very beginning, there are many great baby carriers on the market designed specifically for hikers. Before purchasing, make sure that you pay close attention to the following product details and buy the right baby carrier for you and your child!

Carrier Type

A framed carrier will give the unit its own support and help alleviate the strain on your back. For long hikes, this model type is highly recommended, especially for heavier infants, which will feel twice as heavy after an hour with a carrier designed for short walks around town.

Carry Position

For long hikes, back-positioned units are ideal. Front units are great for shorter hikes and allow you to keep a close eye on the infant, but become cumbersome quickly and get in the way of your arm movement during an active walk or climb.

Infant Weight

Make sure the carrier you purchase will safely carry your baby. If your baby falls outside of the recommended weight range, it could put both you and your child at risk.

Canopy

This feature is essential to keep harmful sun rays off of your baby's vulnerable skin. Most hiking units come with them, but check to be sure.
