I first stumbled on the this wireless sound system when on vacation and staying right on the beach. My friend hosting me had the evolve system and I had brought my new I-touch along mainly for air travel. However, when I used the evolve system for the first time I was truly blown away.
I found it to be fine--better than the ipod speakers I was using previously. The portability is great and the speakers and the remote worked effectively throughout my house. I also read that Griffin has raised their suggested retail price, so I'm happy that I bought this before the price increase hits the stores!
What's great about it:?The detachable speakers What's not so great:?No sound comes out "I bought a Griffin Evolve at a local Best Buy. I tried it with my 3G iPhone in the store and it worked fine and sounded great.
The second system would not even power on. Needless to say, I took it back again and exchanged it for a better brand, which I am happy with. I will not buy a Griffin product again.
All of the above reviews do explain what a great system this is. We love it. I bought it because we could connnect our Bose CD radio using the unput/output on both to either play the CD/Radio through the wireless speakers or I could connect to play my Ipod docked on the Griffin through my Bose, so in essense I got a third speaker using my Bose. But the problem is that the Speaker batteries cannot be replaced.
A very nice idea. I also like how easy it is to add additional speakers to your set. It seems tricky to find additional speakers, but I now Griffin (at one time) had those available.
Not only does it sound great for the size of the speakers but the speakers are wireless and go anywhere in my house. What's even more amazing about this system is that the remote control can be used anywhere in the house and IT STILL WORKS!!!! Griffin is coming out with Add Ons that can be synced to this particular speaker system. so you can place more speakers throughout your home and not have to worry about wires.
It's CLASS 1 transmitter allows listening in ANY room in my 2 story/4 bed house as well as the backyard and frontyard. I have the base set up on the 2nd floor in the middle of the house. I also own the Sharper Image SR297/298 and they have about 60% the range as the Griffins and don't have an internal Li-Ion battery that lasts 12-14 hours. The sound is top notch with a usable frequency response down to around 80HZ .
The Evolve is an excellent choice if you like to play your music loud. The sound quality is out of this world.
There are a lot of reviews for the Evolve on the internet. I read and watched most of these reviews before I purchased mine.
