You want a pet, but you suffer from allergies: what do you do? An air purifier can remove a good deal of pet dander out of the air, making your house more comfortable for those with pet allergies. Whether you need an air purifier to make owning a pet possible or just as a courtesy to guests, be aware of the difference between units that are designed to freshen the air and simply mask pet smells as opposed to those that actually remove dander and other pollutants from the air.
When buying an air purifier, consider the number of square feet it will purify. For a small bedroom, you don’t have to spend money on a unit designed to cover a larger area. Likewise, you shouldn’t buy a unit designed for a small bedroom and expect it to work in the biggest room in your house. Depending on the layout of your house, it might be better to get two or three units for different rooms than a single unit designed to cover a larger area. You should also consider how quietly the unit operates - if you plan to run your air purifier constantly, a noisy unit will become a nuisance.
When you are weighing cost, consider the filter life. Finding replacement filters can be irritating and costly, so it’s best to purchase a purifier that includes filters that last a long time or can be cleaned easily.
