I have a houseful of pets and wanted a top-rated air purifier. I ordered two Oreck's. They arrived very quickly at a very substantial savings in price. from Overstock.com Albeit, we had a bit of a problem with the Oreck, we were able to solve the problem. It appears that some of the contacts on the collection grid were not connecting. from Overstock.com Pros: Works good for a short time Cons: Sears' 300-cubic-feet-per-minute Electrostatic Cleaner is $369, Oreck's 150-C. F. from Shopping.com It certainly does a good job of moving the air and keeps the room fresh as its on 24 hours a day.. Have had to replace the collection system once as it was arching.. Replacement was easy through Oreck and cost me nothing as that part is gaurantee'd for 10 years. The motor eventually failed after just 3 years (Therefore not covered under warranty) So I have replaced the machine with another from a different manufacturer. from Overstock.com all I had to do was plug it up that was easly for it to work. I love the oreck air purifier I put in kitchen and it clean the air in kitchen and living room it like fresh clean air. also have one in bed room cannot do without. from Overstock.com

Cons: It just doesn't work, customer service is horrible and it's clearly a rip-off.

The Bottom Line: One big giant rip-off. I will never buy anything will Oreck's name on it again.

My husband was a chain smoker our first 3 years of marriage and I had purchased a $400 Austin Air Healthmate air purifier. from Amazon.com The only thing that Dave Oreck has succeeded in with these filters is a marketing gimmick. There is so much blow by in this thing that there seems to be more dust around it than in it. from Amazon.com I ordered one of these straight from the oreck website. I must say that in 24 hours I do notice a difference. from Amazon.com
