it automatically kicks into high for dust or odor, but then goes back to it's normal mode when the sensors detect the air is clean again. from Sears.com unit.i have cats and this unit evens picks up cat hair.i have a friend with severe allegies, and deathly allergic to cats, well with this unit he comes/goes freely in my house and has no problems! from Sears.com we have a larger unit in our bedroom but it is much louder. from Sears.com we purchased the envirosense for our bedroom, and it works out great, because it is very quiet on low and medium and will remove odors quite quickly on high or turbo, along with the handy remote. from Sears.com if you put it on sleep mode you really can't hear it at all. from Sears.com after passing these two tests i can now be sure that the unit is “on guard” so to speak for the air quality in my bedroom. from Sears.com i have severe allergies year round and i really think that it helps with everything from dust, to pets, to pollens and odors. from Sears.com amazed at how it 'sniffs' out odors & dust. from Sears.com with someone who also suffers from chronic asthma!i love being able to wash the prefilter and the hepa filter, i do so every 3 wks. from Sears.com very light weight and so thin and it is not an eye sore in the room!the noise level is so low, i wonder if it is on, well wow, i can run this unit and do 24/7 and i don't have to turn the volume up from Sears.com
