I've owned several Honeywell HEPA filters over the years, and they seldom last more than a year or 18 months before a bearing goes out and I have to replace the unit. I've had the Holmes HAP 625 for about 3 years now, running around the clock, and have had no problems whatsoever. It's quieter, too, than the others I've tried. from Amazon.com The lowest setting is about as loud as a typical car air conditioner on the second lowest setting. The highest setting is a bit noisy, but you would rarely need to use that level to achieve high air quality in a normal sized bedroom.
