as designed, the snap-in duct mount was too long to fit inside our existing screen.

at first i thought it was broken since heat was blowing inside.

while i did screw the retainer into place over the supplied foam inside of the window frame (not within the travel of the sash, but further inside the room, with just enough clearance for the window

they designed this unit to blend in as seamlessly as possible with the indoor environment, and i appreciate that.

once you remove the straps for the inside box, the box will come up exposing the unit.

i need a cooler environment than others in the household and i set up an allergy/cooling room after we had some problems from an indoor flooding disaster and indoor pollution from central ac problems.

like many units of this size, the unit seems to largely circulate air from the inside rather than giving you fresh outdoor air.

but i opened it up and found that inside, one of the fan blades was wedged up against some of the metal piping inside.

it also dripped water inside constantly.

i do not like this at all, and removing a unit from a window means understanding this and attempting to drain it in some clever way before bringing it indoors.

while inside i added some much needed padding and insulation in several places to reduce noise from outside and while the unit is running.

i was glad i discovered this after the unti had already burned up inside!

i also consider this a more efficient design, since the air inside the house will be cooler after some time running, so you are recycling thew colled air rather than drawing in hotter air from outside
