the room is 14 x 24 the west wall is all insulated glass windows and 10 ft.
i have purchased two of these units for use in studio apartment rentals and they have worked well for me.
i have used amana ac window units in the past in commercial applications.
the a/c unit does require a small window (or a large one largely blocked off) which can take some work if your windows are not the right size, but that's true of any unit like these.
this product is advertised as being portable, but it must be attached to a window vent to work.
note this needs to vent out of a window.
this is a lifesaver..i live in a rooftop apt (penthouse) and get full sun all day..this portable ac keeps the temp down very well in all five rooms, and i don't have to run it long.
the air conditioner keeps my upstairs bedroom comfortably cool, but it can only be used under the window.
you still need to find a window to install the tube, and the tube is not long enough most of time.

~suitable for apartments -- no permanent installation or brackets needed
we put this unit in an upstairs window of our older brick home and it cools the whole upstairs (500 ft) easily.
it makes less noise than the window fan i replaced with it.
to add insult to injury, my tenant also said that they preferred the window lg unit over the central unit as well.great item for the price and has lasted 2-florida summer seasons.
the controls are pretty standard a/c controls except apparently these have a dehumidify only option which i've never seen on a window unit.
i purchased this unit for one of my mobile home rental units, having to wait a week for the central unit to be installed.
i had been looking for a portable air conditioner for quite some time do to the fact that window air conditioners are so tacky and noisy for my neighbore so i was on the hunt looking for a portable
when i moved into my apartment i found out after signing the lease that we're not allowed to have your traditional window a/c units which i was very upset about.
people always say it doesnt work but i think that if you have the a/c connected to the window perfectly it helps alot...
i ordered this unit thinking it was what i wanted for my upstairs bedroom because i wouldn't have to give up one of the two windows and then could move it to the extra room while sewing.
can still open my window in the cool evenings.
not very attractive going from unit to window.
the tubes are an eye-sore, but hey, they're better than a permanent window unit...in my opinion.
we plan to replace our window units once they go on sale again!
this is the first portable ac i've owned and i heard they were less efficient than comparable window units.
window a/c units are better if you have that option.
the other flaw it has is that it doesn't fully fit my window.
at first my window had some holes in it because the plastic it comes with doesn't completely seal in my window.
