i bought one of these a month ago and it has been nothing but horrible...i would not recommend buying...get a standard window a/c sheaper and works a lot better...
window kit could be better but it works.
comments: i bought this unit to replace a 7800 btu window unit i used to cool a small server room.
i have to have the unit up on a counter so i can vent it out a window and allow for the water to drain.
consider that this unit, while mobile, sacrifices a good window seal.
i live in an apartment in northern mn, less than a mile from lake superior.
unlike a previous rater, i have no problems with the window seal (i even have extra length of the "foam" that they include).
accurate temperature controls, auto startstop cooling, cools the whole room, cools well, easy window installation, good overall product, great value, modern appearance, quiet, remote control, timer
there are no side curtain pieces, so you have to have a horizontally sliding window or you have to build a box to fit into your casement window that will perfectly fit the unit.
this all because i wanted to avoid a window unit.
cons: foam window install kit.
the square footage of the top floor of our apartment is approximately 500 square feet.
just bought it yesterday evening and my guest house has no ventalation .and the air cooler is a teriffic way to go due to the fact that all my windows are of odd size and shapes, so to put in a ac
youre better off with a window ac unit.
i live in a 2 bedroom apartment but only one room has a/c.
she wrote to me "i thought it was going to be just like a ceiling fan type thing, where it just blew the warm air around, but nope-this thing blows out ice cold air-just like the air conditioner of a
pros: i live in seattle wa on the top floor in a apt building downtown.this sucker works fantastic cooled my apt down almost immediatly.my dogs love laying by it.
in the place we live we are not allowed to have window installed air conditioners...not sure why, but that is the policy.
plus it comes with only one set of window kit, so don't expect to move it around the house easily.
window unit that cools the same room with no problems makes it feel like a fridge in a half an hour.
due to larger apartment i bought a second one (dpac10) two months ago.
it does a reasonable job of cooling the room i use for an office in my apartment.
the best part is--you can take the outtake tube out of the window on cooler days to let in fresh air.
it is a little noisy as some of the reviews have said but i dont think its that much worse than a window unit.
i have a small basement studio and it does cool it down effectively.
foot studio.
i'd recomment this unit for dorm rooms, studio apartments, or single rooms/ areas,.the fact this unit is also a heater makes it truly a value.
but you should take in consideration these units are more expensive and slightly harder to operate than window-mounted a/cs.
the vinyl window kits did not fit my narrow windows, and they quickly sent me the foam ones for free.
it weighed a gazillion tons, was impossible to install, and blocked my window view.
this is a lifesaver..i live in a rooftop apt (penthouse) and get full sun all day..this portable ac keeps the temp down very well in all five rooms, and i don't have to run it long.
the air conditioner keeps my upstairs bedroom comfortably cool, but it can only be used under the window.
you still need to find a window to install the tube, and the tube is not long enough most of time.

~suitable for apartments -- no permanent installation or brackets needed
i had been looking for a portable air conditioner for quite some time do to the fact that window air conditioners are so tacky and noisy for my neighbore so i was on the hunt looking for a portable
when i moved into my apartment i found out after signing the lease that we're not allowed to have your traditional window a/c units which i was very upset about.
people always say it doesnt work but i think that if you have the a/c connected to the window perfectly it helps alot...
can still open my window in the cool evenings.
not very attractive going from unit to window.
the tubes are an eye-sore, but hey, they're better than a permanent window unit...in my opinion.
