I just got this LG to replace the Sharp 10000btu portable which I bought 2 days paid for $450. The sharp has nice looking shape but not cooling at all, and this LG 8000btu works much much better than that. from Circuitcity.com We have 2 units of 5k frigidaire, but we still need 1 more for our living room. With countless efforts to scan all the online stores and reading reviews I come up into buying this LG 8000. As compared to Frigidaire 5000, this LG is not noisy, working with same speed and temp. from Circuitcity.com Low noise, cools and maintains this 800 SF South Florida cracker house at 78. It averages 90 degrees down here with 70 plus humidity. This 8000 BTU unit has plenty of power to spare. The exterior walls are insulated at 4 inch but the main barrier is the 8-10 inches in the ceiling. If the ceiling was not insulated as well then I don't think 8000btu would have been enough to keep the temps in the sixties.
