After reading reviews here and other online sites, I chose this Sharp portable AC over Soleus or Delonghi. I brought it home the first day of a 100 degree heat wave (in CA) and got it set up in 15 minutes. from Amazon.com Pros: The Sharp is quiet and works as I expected it to. That doesn't mean it works as well as I was would like it to. from Newegg.com Easy set up, full-featured remote that can be clipped to the back of the unit if you want the controls on the unit. Doesn't take up much floor space. Cons: It will not cool as much as a window unit of the same rated capacity, but, you should not expect that from a portable. Supplied window panels are rather flimsy plastic-- quickly made a sectional replacement out of wood slats with grooves to take 1 fibre-board panels, one with hole for the fixture on the end of the exhaust tube, to fit in our windows (horizontal sliders). from Newegg.com My office has 2 of everything - computers, printers, etc, and has a very large full sun facing Southern California window; so it has been unbearably hot for years. I fidgeted getting a good seal in my large vertical sliding window but the moment I turned on the unit I was in heaven. I set up the timer to turn off in 12 hours and sat down to write this review. Seven weeks later I still do not have a working unit as Sharp procrastinated on the repair, then decided that it had to be replaced, then sent the wrong unit. I had tried a cheaper Amcor unit which was powerful but very noisy. The Sharp is easy to install and just works as advertised - strong cooling and very quiet.
