We just purchased the 10,000btu model today and so far its working great for us. Our issue was that we have a very thin window we wanted to find a unit for (19.25"), and [two home improvement stores] didn't have anything. The Haier model was a little thicker than our window opening, but we modified our existing wood window to make it work. So, if you have a thin window, give this one a try. from Target.com I agree with another review that this unit is very loud. I am very disappointed as the previous Haier AC I had was very quiet. Even at the lowest setting on the fan, it is too loud. from Target.com We purchased this item as a replacement to a smaller Haier Window Air Conditioner. Our first night with it was so bad, we had to turn it off in the night. from Target.com My daughter loves it. This a/c replaced an extremely loud Fedders in her room which the Fedders was like having a tractor trailer motor running. This Haiers a/c on low is extremely quiet,-- med. and high mode there is a humming sound but noise isn't bad at all. from Amazon.com It was supposed to have 3 fan speeds and it came out of the box with only 2. It is a glorified fan - does not cool past 81 degrees. The company does not back their product and told me that they are packed in China and that Haier is not responsible for what happens in China.
