MY SON IS A BIG FAN OF WWE, SO THIS WAS A GOOD PURCHASE, HE HAS ENJOYED IT. from Amazon.com I know this man personally since we both were in the same high school together. I am about 3 years older than he, but we know some of the same people. Jake had a terrible childhood and his only escape and the only thing he really knew was Professional Wrestling since his dad Grizzly Smith was a Professional Wrestler. I really hope he gets the help he needs. from Amazon.com But Horsemen aside, this DVD is an excellent journey into the background of one of the greatest professional wrestlers in America. Jake was the offspring of a very illicit relationship, the foundation for the intimidating character he became. The story provides insight into the origin of one of the most devestating moves in professional wrestling, the DDT. The fact that this move is now commonplace shows the difference between the modern tales told in the squared circle to the classic storytelling of old. from Amazon.com I thought this was an excellent DVD detailing the life of Jake Roberts. The hardships he had to deal with while growing up, the personality and intelligence of the man, and the talent are all showcased in this DVD. I felt this was one of the better WWE wrestler volumes I've seen. from Amazon.com I would not recommend this for kids to view. However that being said it is a great dvd to buy. Most documentaries that WWE releases usually end on a positive note. However on this one, it does not. from Amazon.com This documenty will probably be the "darkest" DVD WWE will ever release because Jake Roberts himself is a very dark man. They hold nothing back here as they do deep into his life and every aspect of it which honestly, it's not safe for children and this DVD itself is something that should have been rated TV-MA. from Amazon.com Disc one starts with a biography on "The Snake" which lasts about 70min. The biography is very well done and is the lone saving grace in this otherwise lame DVD. The interview with Jake, and Jake's subsequent retelling of his childhood, pro-wrestling career and substance abuse, is very revealing and deep-felt. Jake, having no amateur wrestling background, was limited in his wrestling repertoire, so he had to rely on psychology and "selling" to really "get over" with the audience. from Amazon.com But after I watched this the first time, I'm glad they did. First things first, Jake Roberts, no matter what kind of personal problems he may have had in the past, the guy is a TRUE legend. This DVD is as in depth as any WWE DVD I've recently purchased. It gave me certain information about Jake that I didn't previously know. from Amazon.com When I first saw him get hit with the guitar by the Honky Tonk Man, I thought he was faking the shot to make it look real and I even laughed at it until he said that guitar was 1/2 inch thick and then I looked at the clip again and I thought damn, it really almost killed him. He had a lot of guts to continue to wrestle. That type of commentary along with other things he touched up on really gave it a sense of realism of the pro wrestling lifestyle. Overall, I recommend this DVD to add to your collection. from Amazon.com Awesome DVD!
