after have bought a cobra li-5600-2 dx vp micro talk 20-mile range 2-way radio - 2 pack, i have decided to return these to best buy store, because it doesn't charge the lithium battery completely and
the motorola t9680rsame is powerful, clear, and it functions as advetised on a non mountainous area.
great radios and the cost it is cheap
at the parks, the voice was clear, no interruption by other radios due to the variety of channels, it has saved us a lot of tele-mobile cost.
the voice quality is very good (as long as the volume is set just a bit lower than max).
and we don't have to listen to static, the radio only kicks on when it picks of noise.
i favor motorola over others due to portability, durability, and (this sounds trivial) the "clip" that locks it to your gear.
i really wish they would have come with more easy to use directions so i would give it a 4 because of that.
have not done a range test with these yet, but all my other radios of various power levels will do 1-2 miles in an urban area with some hills and trees, and expect these will do the same.
the clip system allows a "quick disconnect" of the unit while leaving the clip itself in place on your fishing vest (in my case)while charging the radio.
all the features are quite typical for this sort of product.
overall, i liked the radios, although there are flaws, the price is really good, the quality of construction is good and it does to some degree do what it is advertised to do.
i have owned several pairs of walkie talkies ranging from cheap "toy" types to more expensive brand name 2 way radios.
also, at this price it won't matter as much if she happens to break it.
i haven't tested the range yet but it's very easy to use and very clear.
i am sure i can get better features and longer range with a permanent setup and a "big box" radio, but i am completely satisfied with this product.
the noaa weather band capabilities only added to this versatility my only complaint is that the radio could use more volume output as it is sometimes hard to hear when used in a vehicle.
i used this radio on 2000 mile 4 day trip on my harley and worked good the whole time, keep in mind though it only has a 4 watt output so range is lacking compaired to the other bikes i was with.
the addition of a anl (automatic noise limiter) is one thing that could make this a very useful radio on the road.
while this unit does offer many features there is one in particular that it is missing.
price is right!
tests so far have found it to have good range, 1-2 miles in town, just as most radios.
the li-ion battery is a plus and gives it much longer battery life than any radio i've had before.
i had my doubts about the radios because they were such a good price but they work great and i'm very pleased with the purchase.
i love these radios, they are smaller and easier to handle and the range is just incredible.
however in my experience, it only reaches apprxomately 1-2 miles in distance, not the 26 miles advertised.
they work remarkably well and have excellent clarity for what we need (1-2 miles, sometimes reach 5 or more).
great sound quality, good price.
these ht's have lots of features and great performance.
for the cost, they are good enough.
we are never in an area that has cell reception so we decided to invest in a two-way radio.
like the range is great as long as there is nothing in the way between the people you are talking to.
the only complaint that i have is when putting them on the charger, it takes a bit of menuvering to get the charge light to go on...and i have had it go off after about 15 minutes before.
our community emergency response team all use midland brand and my gxt1000 is the best for ease of use and many features.
i brought the midland gxt1000vp4 radios to the fair and randomly selected a channel and privacy setting.
the led light is a great feature as well.
design and function are much better than cobra.
we haven't tried them out at any distance (other than around the house).
especially the range is longer with motorola em1000r.
pros: good construction, good feel, good audio, light feature and charging options.
the only thing i truly disliked about these is the fact that if i want to leave it on and keep it in the charger so i can havethe weather alert on while i sleep, it will damage the battery indicator,
the ratings above are all based on price and value so overall, a great value for what you pay recommended
in particular, their 'privacy code' feature (sub-audible tones) doesn't work as wellas typical for commercial radios....but, for what they cost, i certainly can't complain.
most important thing with this or any frs is that you select the correct channels--not every one gives you the 5 mile range.
the range is (as expected) not really 10 mile radios but i used them in car to car on the highway up to 6 or 7 miles on a clear day and i used them throughout a majorcity with many buildings for up
the sound quality is quite decent - similar to an am radio.
i haven't tested at long distances since i primarily used it when we were travelling on a cruise ship (where you can't use cellphones).
it is works as the seller claimed, i used it with my friends with about 1 mile range when hiking and it works very good.
sure, they lack a lot of the fancy bells and whistles but they have range and clarity that some of the other hand-held radios in the net lacked.
tough, mine are used on a highrise construction site and are working fine.
the price is right..
theseeradios really live up to expectations..if you get s gmrs license fromthe fcc, you can get better coverage(approximately 18 miles), however, you can use channels 8 - 14 without a license but, you
not going to get 18 miles because i was only going to use the frs channels (the free ones) and i was also going to use it in the city but i didn't need the signal to go far and it works perfectly.
the product seems durable, easy to use and operate at advertised.
the audio quality is really good, however when you are really far away, it breaks a little, but still nice quality.
the range is normal, .5 mile, but the fetures are 10x more than normal.
the unidens have a lot of really nice features and i find they are slightly clearer than the midlands.
a lot of features and the privacy codes which i like in these radios.
they are packed with features, and easy to use once you learn the basics of the menu system.
i ve used a lot of different brands before including motorola and midland and cheaper version of uniden.
great product, great price.
good price, range, and color.
if we don't put them on the charger after each usage, the batteries run out during the second trip.
the purchase price of the gmrs radio was good but i discovered from the fcc
kids love them, easy to use, good price at the time.
how can you go wrong with a price so low.
recommended if you are looking for a cheaper walkie talkie for communicating with your kids.
they are very easy to operate, have great reception and were inexpensive.
pros: it cost only $50 at price costco.
compact, very lightweight, and simple in design, these two-way radios offer an inexpensive solution for travelers and campers.
it's far more reasonably priced than many others.
it has great reception!
the things had no range and were clumsy to use and to top it all off they took expensive watch batteries.
these have a great range good clarity and although small in size are easy to use for my 4 & 6 year olds.
the hello kitty walkie talkies are crystal clear, have many channels, an easy to use volume control, and an audible tone when the talk button is released (so the other person knows you are finished).
the are durable and come with a handy belt clip for each radio unit.
works great range and clarity super.
great item not so great of price on the fcc permit to use this item.should had more info on this part of the purchase.
all in all i think they're really great for the price.
are tremendous and can be used at the mall or football games or anywhere when you want to kept in touch..range is amazing..i know my grandkids that are getting this set for xmas will love them..
they are very clear and the reception has been excellent.
the noaa weather radio capability of the cobra li7200s was a key item for me.
i have gotten about a three mile range through dense forests and housing developments where other similar units couldn't handle it.
i'm not sure of the range in open areas, but i'm sure it's much further.
27 mile range it isn't.
sound quality is excellent!
i just ordered the upbeat audio r234w white boosteroo revolution for ipod .
you can also plug an ipod into the aux input and listen to your music which is pretty cool, only problem is the internal amplifier isn't powerful enough to hear the ipod that well.
but for the price, and length of time i've used the nady unit, it has worked out well.
it demands a little respect as the box is not drop proof, but overall a great little unit for the price.
the voice clarity is excellent.
however, product features suggests the batteries supplied are lithium ion, in fact they are inferior nickel cadmium types.
they have good sound quality.
the range is great!
they are easy to use, and have enough power to cover any range that we needed.
your kids will thank you for not being cheap and accidentally poisoning them.
